A Million Dollar return on investment
We “leased” Leah Brewer as our Training Director for 2010 and incorporated some of her training modules along with several Marketing Intervention dates into our Agenda. In a soft market, we knew these investments were necessary to keep getting our fair share of business. However, we got more than our fair share, along with a substantial return on our investment. From January through October of 2010 we reduced overall vacant units by 139. With an average rent of $600 that is $83,400 a month or $1,000,800 a year increasing the value of the communities we manage by more than $10,000,000!! Our investment of around $23,000 impacted a Million Dollar increase in gross income!!!!
We have already budgeted the same training investment with Leah Brewer and her team of trainers for 2011.

Training was a key factor in attaining our management objectives
At Mark Management, our 2010 management objectives included increased occupancy with higher rental rates, and also a greater emphasis on employee training and development. Contracting with Leah Brewer to be our training director was one of the key factors in successfully attaining these objectives. By utilizing the skills and knowledge of Leah, our organization received customized learning from industry experts. The expert training we received enabled us to be far more competitive and successful in our local markets.
The consistency of having a single source contact for our annual training benefited our employees immensely. During the 2010 training year, Leah worked personally with our team members. This proved to be beneficial for their individual development and also improved their sales and leasing presentations.
The administration of the training program was easy and effortless. Leah created the training flyers and procured sponsors to supply lunches and refreshments. She even offered a contest to win tickets to a state-wide education event; making it possible for two of our top managers to attend the event as her guests. Mark Management has experienced a terrific return on our training investment. I am excited to hear about her 2011 Apartment Skillbuilder Series, which promises to offer my staff even more training at an economical price.

Like hitting the "Easy" button
I’m busy; I’m busy all the time. So when Leah Brewer introduced her Lease A Training Director program for 2010, I commented, “just make it easy….like hitting the Staples’ Easy Button”. She did. We spent a few hours discussing company objectives for 2010 and built a custom program for our Company with training and marketing dates, times and topics. Leah created the invitation flyers, assisted with venues and preparation, compiled the feedback, and kept track of a lot of information. Our staff appreciated the investment in their personal and professional development and the diverse opportunities and topics from Leah that enhanced our standard learning events. I appreciated how easy Leah made the process. We’ve already contracted her for 2011 and believe she provided us the new and improved Easier Button!

Continental Management embraces learning and development and offers a robust amount of opportunities for managers, service personnel, leasing and administrative support staff throughout the year along with both our Annual Manager’s Leadership Conference and specialized leasing training programs. We have several Subject Matter Experts within our corporate office staff that train on varieties of subjects. In 2010, our portfolio grew tremendously which required diverting our attention to successfully onboarding the new acquisitions. We outsourced many of our standard training events to Leah Brewer who brought us new ideas and energy. She quickly connected to our unique corporate culture and related easily to our employees. In addition, her knowledge of teaching skills and participant-centered learning techniques helped give our trainers additional insight and methods and she has worked with us to improve the curriculum. As always, Leah was a pleasure to work with and really helped us through a difficult growth period. I recommend her services without reservation.
